Ferguson posed as an employee from a power company in Florida when he entered the home of a couple in Dade County on the pretext of checking the power outlets.
Once inside he bound and blindfolded Margaret Wooden. He then let two accomplices into the house and searched for money and drugs. Two hours later Livingstone Stocker, the home owner arrived with five friends. They were also bound and blindfolded and taken to a bedroom. Some time later Wooden’s boyfriend was also captured when he arrived at the address.
At some point during the evening one of the accomplices lost his mask and his face was revealed to the victims. Ferguson put a pillow over Wooden’s head and shot her, though not fatally. The offenders fled the scene leaving six dead bodies, all of whom had their hands tied behind their back with gunshots to the back of the head. A male victim survived a shotgun blast to the head and was able to give evidence at the subsequent trials.
In 1978 Ferguson shot and killed two 17-year-olds. Their bodies were discovered in wooded area. Brian Glenfield was found in a car with gunshot wounds. Belinda Worley was found in nearby undergrowth. She had been raped and shot in the head.
Ferguson spent some 35 years on death row. Two of his accomplices were executed, Marvin Francois in 1985 and Beauford White in 1987.
After a series of unsuccessful appeals over many years, Ferguson was finally executed on 5th August 2013. His final words were, “I just want everyone to know that I am the Prince of God and I will rise again.“
